DGWW Projects & Events

This page is your gateway to the DGWW projects and events (completed, in progress, and coming in the near future) organized by "partner."  Our DGWW partners are nonprofit organizations, and individuals who come to us to for help with or to collaborate on woodworking projects.

The work we have done most recently is listed first, so that new things "rise to the top," giving you new things to see when you return to this page.

Pack 67 - Juniata Council, Scouting America

At the request of Pack Leader Laurie Ritzko, DGWW brought a variety of tools and five mentors to a pack meeting to mentor scouts and their parents as they created their entries for the annual "Pinewood Derby." a lot of energy, and a lot of fun.  DGWW was invited to attend the competition a week later.

Betsy's Cedar Chest

The Pet Gate Project

The Pet Gate Project

A friend of DGWW, who is also an and extraordinary community volunteer, approached DGWW for advice and assistance in restoring a a family heirloom — a cool cedar chest. The interior was in good shape, but the exterior had been exposed to moisture and needed new veneer on the top. The whole chest needed a good sanding and cleaning and a new finish, and the wooden “skirt” that lifted the chest off the ground needed to be replaced with new legs.

The Pet Gate Project

The Pet Gate Project

The Pet Gate Project

DGWW was invited to collaborate on the construction of a pet gate, to keep two small dogs from reaching the second floor of their home.  DGWW designed and built the rolling gate and brackets to keep it in place, and the homeowners dit the finish work.

Out of the Cold (OOTC)

Out of the Cold helps people experiencing homelessness find shelter and other assistance.

At the request of Out of the Cold, DGWW mentor Glenn Johnson picked up and repaired parts for four bunk beds, which expands the number of people they can serve.

Doug Laplante also made repairs to the building.
